Carmarthenshire is a county of many rivers, only 8 of these however, will eventually reach the sea. These are: Teify, Taf, Tywi, Gwendraeth, Dulais (near Llanelli), Lleidi )near Llanelli), Loughor, Usk.
The Teifi
has its source in the Cambrian mountains at Llyn Teifi, one of
several lakes known collectively as the Teifi Pools. It then travels
117 km (73 mi) before reaching the sea at Cardigan in
Ceredigion. For much of its length it forms the boundary between
Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. Its main tributaries within
Carmarthenshire are:
- Afon Tyweli (6.3km)
- Afon Cych (13km), which forms the boundary between Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
- Afon Cynin
- Afon Dewi Fawr
- Afon Cywyn
